Bake sales

Sell to every parent at the bake sale, not just the ones with cash.

Most parents walk up with a phone and no singles. eventCNX turns each volunteer’s phone into a checkout: tap what’s being bought, the parent scans and pays with Apple Pay, Google Pay or a card, and the sale is counted. The money goes straight to your organization’s Stripe account.

How a bake sale table works

Small items, quick lines.

Price each item

Cookies, brownies, cupcakes, pies. The volunteer taps the item and sets how many: six cookies is one payment.

A mixed plate

For two cookies and a brownie, the volunteer adds it up and enters the total as a mixed plate.

More volunteers, more checkouts

Each volunteer’s phone is its own checkout, so a busy table can take several payments at once.

Donations on the side

“Keep the change” becomes a donation of any amount, counted on its own line.

  1. Week before

Start from the bake sale template.

Change the items and prices to what’s being baked, add your logo and set a volunteer PIN. Run a short practice with pretend payments.

  2. Setting up the table

Volunteers open a link and type the PIN.

No app and no account. A volunteer who joins mid-sale does the same thing in ten seconds.

  3. During the sale

    Tap, scan, paid.

The volunteer taps the item and the quantity, the parent scans, and the screen says what to hand over. You see totals by item on the admin screen as they come in.

  4. After

Close the sale. The count is done.

Closing stops new sales and signs volunteers out. Totals by item and volunteer are ready, with a CSV of every sale.

At the table

Plan for small sales.

Card fees

  • Stripe charges a fee on every payment, so it takes a bigger share of a $1 sale
  • Sell by the plate, the bag or the dozen when you can

Mixed plates

  • One payment covers one item and its quantity
  • For a mix, add it up and enter the total as a mixed plate

Cash still works

  • Keep a cash box if you like
  • eventCNX counts the phone payments; cash stays in your box

Questions bake sale organizers ask

Do parents need to download anything?

No. They scan the volunteer’s QR with their phone camera and pay on Stripe’s checkout page.

Can someone buy different items in one payment?

One payment covers one item and its quantity. For a mixed plate, the volunteer adds it up and enters the total.

Are card fees worth it on a $1 cookie?

Stripe’s fee is charged on every payment, so small sales lose a bigger share. Selling by the plate or the bag keeps the fee down, and you still sell to parents with no cash.

Can we still take cash?

Yes. Keep a cash box if you like. eventCNX counts the phone payments; cash stays in your box.

The parents at your table have their phones out.
